WikiCred supports research, software projects and Wikimedia events that explore information reliability and credibility. WikiCred also plans and supports small-production, high-scale initiatives in North America that focus on improving and information literacy and credibility on the internet and beyond.
As one of these initiatives, WikiCred offers microgrants of between $250 to $10,000 to individuals and teams for pilot projects on how to support credibility on the internet using Wikimedia, and from insights from the Wikimedia community.
WikiCred welcomes teams with a proven record of working in the open-knowledge movement to apply for these grants. As well, newcomers with new and fresh ideas are also encouraged to apply.
WikiCred got its start at WikiConference North America 2019, a "WikiCredcon" that explored themes of information reliability and credibility.
